Run a lesson with the toolbox

Everything for running a lesson in BLine — start the timer, work through skills with the Toolbox, annotate real maps and hazard scenarios, all from one screen.

Starting a lesson

Start the timer and get set up

  1. From the Home tab, click Continue or Start to begin the lesson — the timer runs live at the top and focus suggestions appear underneath.
  2. Choose Standard lesson or Mock test, then set a few objectives.
  3. Objectives can be ticked off as they are completed.
  4. Skills can also be selected from the toolbox – these will be recorded as practised in the post lesson log.

Everything you need, one tap away

  1. This is the BLine in lesson toolbox. The Toolbox holds objectives, mind maps, hazard scenarios and more.
  2. You can practice show me/tell me questions with the pupil and mark how confident they are with their answers.
  3. You can record the driving conditions experienced during the lesson. These will be added to the post lesson notes automatically.
  4. You can create mind maps to check pupil understanding and drive discussion.
  5. Choose topics from your current curriculum or type in a different concept you want to discuss.
  6. The mind map can be written on using the tools at the top of the screen – perfect for tablets.
  7. Mind maps can be saved for later and will be visible in the pupils lesson history on the instructor dashboard.

Annotate real junctions and routes

  1. The Toolbox includes a Draw on Satellite Map tool.
  2. You can scroll, zoom, and rotate the map. Selecting locate me will zoom to your location.
  3. The map can be rotated between portrait and landscape to suit your needs and device.
  4. Position the map, then tap Draw to annotate a junction or route.

Build a road layout to talk through

  1. The Toolbox includes a number of scenarios & hazard diagrams.
  2. The diagrams represent a variety of scenarios the pupil may encounter.
  3. The scenarios can be displayed in portrait or landscape – ideal for use on a tablet.
  4. Question prompts can be displayed to aid discussion or hidden at the click of a button
  5. You can drop hazards onto the scenario layout, then draw to explain the situation.
  6. The scenario can be saved to the lesson timeline in the instructor dashboard.
